Political, legal and economic preconditions for health promoting healthcare without walls

 
 

Dr. Angela Maria Jones MA BM BCh DCH DRCOG DFFP MRCGP, Course Director, Postgraduate Certificate Course, Department for Continuing Education, University of Oxford (United Kingdom)

Dr Angela Jones studied medicine at Universities of Cambridge and Oxford in England. She undertook vocational training in general practice and worked for 10 years in a mixed rural and urban practice in South Wales. On returning to England, she joined a practice providing primary care to homeless people and was joint medical director and clinical lead for 6 years. She developed a postgraduate certificate in the provision of healthcare to homeless people at the University of Oxford and ran three international conferences on health and homelessness from 2006-2008. In 2005 she was seconded to the UK government as Specialist Adviser on Health and Homelessness, a post that she held for 3 years during which time she contributed to numerous guidance documents and strategies. She is now working to improve clinical governance and training in medical services providing healthcare to homeless people and other marginalised populations as co-founder of Inclusive Health, a social enterprise organisation, as well as working as a GP with homeless people and drug users in London and Oxfordshire. She is the current chair of the Health Inequalities Standing Group at the UK Royal College of General Practitioners.
