With primary care at its core, CPF performs world-class research via four pillars: clinical, epidemiological, qualitative, and experimental research. CPF has an active exchange of knowledge between the clinical settings and the academic environment. This exchange is made possible using a network of academic healthcare centers across Skåne county. The center also has a state-of-the-art molecular family medicine laboratory where diseases such as cancer, type 2 diabetes, and obesity are under the microscope by a team of international researchers. With over 60 PhD-certified past and present researchers, most of whom are also clinically active at a primary health care center, CPF has published almost 2000 scientific papers since its inception based on multiple research projects. Among the current, large-scale research projects that CPF engages in are ‘Targeted Health Dialogues’, where all 40 and 50-year-olds in Skåne participate in a preventive intervention.

Long established as the scientific hub for all primary healthcare centers in Skåne, CPF has also enjoyed fruitful international research partnerships with Stanford University, Virginia Commonwealth University, The Mount Sinai Hospital, New York City, Heidelberg University, Shimane University, and many others. Long-term collaborators with CPF include several highly-cited, international researchers.
